Enable Workspace MCP in Notiondesk

Enable Workspace MCP for a help center and prepare it for secure connections from ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Codex, and other MCP clients.

Workspace MCP must be enabled for each help center before an AI assistant can access it.

Once enabled, authorized teammates can connect supported AI clients such as ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Codex, VS Code, and Claude Code through OAuth.

Before you start

Workspace MCP requires:

  • An active Notiondesk Enterprise subscription
  • Access to the Notiondesk workspace
  • Permission to enable Workspace MCP
  • A compatible AI client that supports remote MCP servers and OAuth

An Editor, Admin, or workspace owner can enable Workspace MCP.

The actions available after connecting depend on the Notiondesk role of the teammate who completes the OAuth authorization.

Enable Workspace MCP

To enable Workspace MCP for a help center:

  1. Sign in to your Notiondesk dashboard
  1. Select the help center you want to connect
  1. Go to Settings → General
  1. Find the Workspace MCP section
  1. Turn on Enable for this help center
  1. Open Install in your client

Workspace MCP is now available for that help center.

Install Workspace MCP in an AI client

Open Install in your client to see setup instructions for supported AI assistants.

Notiondesk provides installation options for:

  • ChatGPT
  • Claude
  • Claude Code
  • Cursor
  • VS Code
  • Codex
  • Other compatible MCP clients

Each client has a different installation flow.

Use the dedicated setup article for your AI assistant rather than copying configuration from another client.

Workspace MCP connection details

Workspace MCP uses the same remote MCP server for supported clients:

When a client asks for a connection name, use:

Notiondesk MCP

Authentication uses OAuth.

Your AI client will open Notiondesk in your browser so you can sign in and approve the connection.

Authorize the connection

During OAuth authorization, Notiondesk shows the workspace and permissions associated with the connection.

Before approving access:

  1. Confirm that the correct Notiondesk workspace is selected
  1. Review the requested permissions
  1. Approve the connection

The AI client receives only the permissions available to your current Notiondesk role.

Workspace MCP does not give an AI assistant additional Notiondesk permissions beyond those already available to the teammate who authorizes it.

Enable Workspace MCP for multiple help centers

Workspace MCP is enabled separately for each help center.

If your workspace contains multiple help centers, repeat the setup for every help center you want to make available.

For each help center:

  1. Open the help center
  1. Go to Settings → General
  1. Find Workspace MCP
  1. Enable Enable for this help center

After authorization, your AI assistant can access enabled help centers that your Notiondesk account already has permission to access.

Verify that Workspace MCP is enabled

After connecting your AI client, start with a read-only request such as:

List the Notiondesk help centers I can access.

Confirm that the expected help center appears.

You can then test a specific help center:

Show the sync status for my main help center.

If the expected help center is missing, check that Workspace MCP is enabled for that help center and that your Notiondesk account has access to it.

What happens if you disable Workspace MCP?

Disabling Workspace MCP immediately blocks connected AI clients from accessing that help center.

To disable it:

  1. Open the help center in Notiondesk.
  1. Go to Settings → General
  1. Find Workspace MCP
  1. Turn off Enable for this help center
  1. Confirm the change

Other help centers where Workspace MCP remains enabled are not affected.

Workspace MCP is locked

Workspace MCP requires an active Enterprise subscription.

If the feature is locked, confirm that:

  • You are signed in to the correct Notiondesk workspace
  • The workspace has an active Enterprise subscription
  • Your current role allows you to enable Workspace MCP
